Japan Cuts Cycle Production 42% in February

Japan’s four largest motorcycle manufacturers in February produced 72,719 units, down 42.8 percent from 127,045 units produced in Feb. 2008.

Honda produced 23,562 units in Feb. 2009, down from 33,708 units in Feb. 2008; Kawasaki produced 12,431 units, down from 18,894 units; Suzuki produced 17,519 units, down from 44,202 units; and Yamaha produced 19,202 units, down from 30,226 units.

EXPORTS
The four manufacturers in February exported 74,439 units, down 39 percent from 122,085 units exported in Feb. 2008.

Honda exported 17,787 units in Feb. 2009, down from 20,152 units exported in Feb. 2008; Kawasaki shipped 13,880 units, down from 20,096 units; Suzuki moved 26,595 units, down from 49,853 units; and Yamaha exported 16,177 units, down from 31,984 units.

Exports to the United States totaled 28,455 units, down 37 percent from 45,178 units in Feb. 2008.
